Statement of the Workers’ Cause Party on the G20 Summit in Brazil

São Paulo, October 23rd, 2024

On November 18th, the architects of the Palestinian genocide — now extending into Lebanon with no foreseeable end — will arrive at Brazilian soil, in Rio de Janeiro, for the annual G20 summit. The Workers’ Cause Party has undertaken the task of organizing a large-scale demonstration against these imperialist leaders, condemning the ongoing genocide, and, above all, expressing our solidarity with the Palestinian resistance, which continues to fight heroically against one of the most heavily armed militaries in the world. What the Zionist army lacks in bravery, it compensates for with bombs, missiles, aircraft, and rifles supplied by the governments of France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Canada, and, most significantly, the United States.

At our 37th National Conference, we set the goal of organizing this nationwide protest in Rio with great enthusiasm. We are already joined by the Brazil-Palestine Institute (Ibraspal) and several other popular movements that seek to voice their opposition not only to the atrocities committed in the Near East but also to those inflicted on our own region and country, largely subjugated by imperialist powers. We are working tirelessly with other political parties and organizations across Brazil to ensure that this demonstration surpasses the one held on June 30th in São Paulo, where thousands took to the streets in solidarity with the Palestinian struggle.

In this context, we appeal to our comrades abroad for support and solidarity. The more we spread news about the protest, the greater its impact will be.  While we have all been mobilizing against the crimes of imperialism and their Zionist proxies, opportunities to confront the leaders of the so-called “free world” collectively are rare. We call upon you to help us amplify the reach of this demonstration by recording videos in its support, publishing articles in your media outlets, and promoting it across social media platforms. Send a comrade if possible or, if you have comrades residing in Brazil or traveling here during this period, we urge them to join us.

Brazil being a country of continental proportions, the effort of gathering militants from all over the country in a single location is considerable, and we cannot meet this challenge alone. If you are able, we kindly ask for your financial support. Any contribution, no matter the size, will be invaluable to our efforts.

In solidarity,
International Secretariat of the Workers’ Cause Party
